Mr McArthur was born and educated in Scotland.  He attended the University of Aberdeen Medical School where he qualified with two degrees and a number of distinction awards.  His basic surgical training was completed in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  After obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh he decided on a career in Plastic Surgery and relocated to London to maximise his training opportunities. 

In London, he was trained by some of the UK's leading Plastic Surgeons working in some of the busiest units in the UK.  His training was completed with specialist fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital.  He also trained in cosmetic surgery at the London Clinic.

Mr McArthur is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the European Board of Hand Surgery.  He is also on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.  He has published in a number of peer reviewed international journals and has presented on an international stage on many occassions.
